Personalized whitewater instruction in Costa Rica
For more than 20 years, kayaking has been a central part of my life. It gave me the opportunity to work, support my family, travel through more than 15 countries, explore some of the world’s most beautiful rivers, compete, teach and build friendships with people from many different cultures. Most importantly, kayaking showed me how powerful rivers, nature and adventure can be in changing a person’s life. That experience inspired my biggest dream: to create a place where I could share everything I have learned and give more people the opportunity to experience kayaking. Jaguar Kayak Academy began with a social program in Sarapiquí, providing free kayak lessons and access to equipment for local children, young people and adults. The goal is simple: create opportunities, develop confidence and help more people connect with nature through sport.
I also created Jaguar Kayak Academy to share Costa Rica with people from around the world. Costa Rica is a small country with extraordinary rivers, rainforest, wildlife, beaches and people. Through our kayak, rafting, surf and adventure trips, we invite travelers to discover the country in a more personal and authentic way. You do not need to be an experienced paddler to join us. Paddlers, beginners, families, friends and non-paddlers are all welcome. There is always another way to experience Costa Rica. After more than two decades of paddling, exploring, competing and teaching, I continue to develop my skills as a kayak, rafting and river-rescue instructor so I can provide professional instruction while sharing everything the river has taught me.
Jaguar Kayak Academy is more than an adventure company. It is a place to learn, teach, explore, connect and create opportunities through rivers and nature. Description: Rivers of Opportunity is Jaguar Kayak Academy’s community initiative, creating free kayaking and outdoor learning opportunities for children and young people in Sarapiquí. Through supervised paddling activities, water-safety education, environmental awareness and positive time outdoors, participants develop confidence, responsibility, teamwork and a stronger connection with nature. We believe local youth should have safe access to the rivers that surround their communities and the opportunities those rivers can inspire. Jaguar Kayak Academy provides instruction, equipment and a supportive environment where young people can learn, grow and imagine new possibilities. Every adventure booked with Jaguar Kayak Academy helps us continue this mission. Paddlers, families, volunteers and partners can also support the program by sharing equipment, knowledge, time or financial contributions.
