Small-group kayak instruction, whitewater expeditions and family adventures led by local experts.
Andrey Coto grew up in Sarapiquí, Costa Rica, surrounded by rainforest and some of the country’s most beautiful rivers. For more than two decades, he has dedicated his life to kayaking, guiding, instruction, expeditions and international competition. His approach combines professional instruction, local river knowledge and a deep respect for nature.
Andrey founded Jaguar Kayak Academy to give visitors an authentic and personal way to experience Costa Rica while creating new opportunities for local youth. Whether you are a first-time paddler, a family seeking adventure or an experienced kayaker, every experience is designed to be safe, memorable and adapted to your goals.

Description: Jaguar Kayak Academy welcomes responsible volunteers who want to share their time and skills with the Sarapiquí community. Depending on your experience, you may help with supervised kayak activities, our Rivers of Opportunity youth program, environmental projects, community events, equipment and base maintenance, photography, video, English practice or administrative support. Volunteers must respect local culture, protect participant privacy and follow all safety and child-protection instructions. Anyone assisting with youth activities may be asked to provide references or additional documentation. Tell us about your background, skills, availability and how you would like to contribute. We will contact you to discuss current needs and determine whether the program is a good match.
